About Mineral Sunscreens

Mineral Sunscreen Facts

Mineral vs Chemical Sunscreen Explained

Sunscreens can use mineral or chemical UV filters to protect skin against sun damage. Mineral UV filters sit on top of the skin to deflect and scatter UVA and UVB rays. They are often called physical blockers. Common mineral active ingredients are Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide.

Chemical UV filters rely on active ingredients such as Avobenzone, Octinoxate and Octisalate which protect the skin by absorbing the sun's rays. They are often referred to as chemical absorbers.
